What’s the Difference?

While we have all heard of espresso, it can be difficult to understand the differences between a regular cup of coffee and an expertly pulled espresso shot. If you are wondering what separates espresso from other coffee beans, you are not alone. Let’s start with the basics.

Behind the Beans

The big difference between coffee and espresso starts all the way back at the beans. Espresso beans are roasted for a longer amount of time comparatively to average coffee beans, and usually roasted at a much higher temperature. This unique roasting process, known as an Espresso Roast, extracts the oil from the coffee beans, resulting in a bolder, more intense flavor.
